FAQs
-
What currency is the tuition in?
The program is priced in Canadian dollars. If you are outside of Canada then the appropriate exchange rate will be applied by your credit card company.
-
How long do I have access to the program?
You will have access for 180 days.
-
Do I have to work through the program in a particular order?
I created the program in an order that I think makes sense, but the content is all freely available and is not dripped, so you can begin with any section you like.
-
Do you offer continuing education credits?
No, this program does not offer CEUs. But I have partnered with PESI.com to create CEU approved program. You can access the dietitian program "Two Day Clinical Nutrition Management of Lymphedema" or the therapist program "Nutrition Strategies for Lymphedema" and complete the test to earn CEUs.
-
Is there a test?
No. There is no test for this program.
-
Do I get a certificate of completion?
Yes. A certificate of completion is provided when you finish the program.
-
After I complete this program can I provide nutrition counselling to my patients?
Using nutrition to treat a medical condition is referred to as medical nutrition therapy. This is a protected act and your state or provincial regulatory body will specify your scope of practice. Successfully completing this program does not override any professional limits on your scope of practice.
-
If I'm a lymphedema therapist, why should I take a nutrition program?
As a registered dietitian, the fact that I can speak intelligently to my clients about manual lymphatic drainage, compression and exercise has greatly enhanced my ability to help them. While I do not prescribe compression or teach MLD, I am able to refer my clients to professionals and speak to them about what they can expect and the benefits they can receive from working with a lymphedema therapist. I believe that lymphedema therapists will also benefit from having an in depth knowledge of lymphedema nutrition even if their scope of practice may include some limits on medical nutrition therapy. In addition, your scope of practice may allow for some nutrition counselling and after completing this program, you will feel very well prepared and confident to speak intelligently about lymphedema nutrition. In addition, this program will help you understand lymphedema from a whole new perspective.
-
Is this program evidence-based?
Yes. I did a thorough review of the research. Each slide includes the reference and there is a full reference list download for each chapter.
